For an experience that takes you back to the old country, stop in at Rí Rá Irish Pub in The Shoppes at Mandalay Place (on the skybridge between Mandalay Bay and Luxor), where a 19th-century bar has been imported from Ireland, and where salvaged materials have been restored and brought to Vegas to enhance that feel. You’ll not only find authentic food, but you’ll also find plenty of liquid Irish offerings.

Start with the beer—there are plenty of choices on draft, canned and bottled. Guinness is an obvious choice in an Irish establishment, and you can find the classic Irish stout on draft (brewed in Dublin), plus Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and the nonalcoholic version (a mighty fine version if I say so myself, and I do). But Murphy’s and O’Hara’s stouts might be better for you.

For a less-heavy option, Smithwick’s and Sullivan’s red ales, Harp lager, and Sullivan’s gold ale will do you. There are several types of ciders, like Strongbow and Magners Irish pear cider, plus plenty of German and Belgian choices. Cocktails include the Old-Fashioned, pink guava margarita, key lime martini and Irish coffee with Jameson (also mighty fine), among others.

Whiskey is a specialty here as well, with an absolutely huge selection from Scotland and the U.S., with some world whiskies, too. It’s worth it to indulge in something you might not have tried before.  And a bonus: Irish bands play most nights, starting at 8 p.m.
