Over the course of nearly three decades in the music business, singer Marc Anthony has experimented with a variety of styles and two different languages, reaching audiences no matter what genre he takes on. Born in New York City, Anthony started his career in the freestyle and house music scenes in his native city in the late 1980s, working with underground artists like Todd Terry and Little Louie Vega. When Anthony switched to salsa music and started singing in Spanish in the early ’90s, his career exploded, thanks to the success of his debut solo album, Otra Nota, in 1993.

From there, Anthony became one of the biggest stars in Latin music, and one of the most successful crossover salsa singers of all time. When he made the jump to pop with his self-titled English-language debut in 1999, Anthony reached superstar status, bringing a new audience to his music. Since then, he’s recorded pop songs in English and Spanish while releasing new salsa music as well. Whatever style of music he records, Anthony brings passion, intensity and talent to his performance, and that’s what’s kept audiences fascinated for so long.
