Justin Timberlake must have a thing for Las Vegas, because his Nov. 28 show marks his fourth concert in town on his current tour, which wraps up with two more Vegas shows in January (which will be filmed by acclaimed director Jonathan Demme for an upcoming concert documentary).

That’s a lot of love for a single city on one of the biggest pop tours of the year (and of last year, too), and Vegas has certainly returned the favor, with huge crowds and a warm welcome for Timberlake at all of his shows.

So why is Las Vegas such a perfect fit for Timberlake? Well, he’s an old-school showman with new-school sounds, and his concerts combine big spectacle with serious musical chops. That’s about as Vegas as you can get.

From his days as one of five voices in ’N Sync to his acclaimed early solo albums Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds to his recent musical comeback with the two-part The 20/20 Experience album cycle, Timberlake has grown from a fresh-faced pop star into a mature, serious artist who still knows how to have fun and sing a catchy hook. And there’s no reason to think that the singer behind “Cry Me a River,” “SexyBack,” “Suit & Tie” and a ton of other hits won’t continue to be his best every time he stops in what looks like his new favorite city.
