Jake Owen is a bit of a goof. Sure, he’s a popular, talented country singer with a string of hits to his name, but he’s also a fun-loving guy who never takes himself too seriously, and that personality comes across in his live performances.

Check out Owen live, and you’re likely to hear songs from his latest album, 2013’s Days of Gold, including singles “Beachin’” and the title track, plus past hits like “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” and “The One That Got Away.” But there’s also a good chance Owen will break into a cover of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” or Sublime’s “What I Got.” Like a lot of country stars these days, Owen is a fan of all sorts of music, and he embraces that range of styles in his performances.

Of course, he’s still a country boy at heart, having grown up in Florida and titled his first single (in 2006) “Yee Haw.” The partier who sings “Beachin’” should be perfectly at home at Mandalay Bay Beach, although he told Fox News that with his upcoming single “What We Ain’t Got,” “it would be a good time for me in my life to put something out that hopefully people will draw something from and see another side of what I do as far as my music is concerned.” He’s still a bit of a goof, but he’s a goof with soul.
